Curvy Stuff 301 - Presentation Powerpoint + Sample files (24MB)

Inspiration: Each year's 'Curvy Stuff' presentations are inspired by the biggest issue I ran into with SolidWorks the previous year as the DiMonte Group worked with our clients to achieve their design goal.
One thing that disturbed me was seeing products that were designed to be convenient for representation in SolidWorks features. This is only natural - if all you have is a table saw in your shop, all of your cuts will be straight lines. And - honesty required here - who hasn't changed a fillet or a shell thickness because that was all they could make work, even though they would have preferred a different value?

Abstract: Show real-world samples of 'feature think' and how it can compromise the desired product. Show how putting 'features' out of your mind as you design can liberate your creativity, followed by how concentrating on the 'faces' of the design and their flow suggests the features you will use and allow you to break it into digestable and understandable pieces that you can model.

Benefit: Attendees learn how to liberate themselves from thinking of SWx features as they design so they can produce the products they really want to deliver.
