Inspiration: At the DiMonte Group, we use the 3D CAD database SolidWorks provides to reduce or eliminate the need for multiple, costly, schedule-consuming rounds of prototypes by 'virtually' testing our designs using SolidWorks functionality and other analysis products.

Abstract: It's the rare product that is perfect in its first iteration. Even if (in the rare instance) it works the first time, a first-article that you can interact with will communicate opportunities to make a product better.
That is one of the primary reasons we make prototypes. Prototypes can be costly, but not as costly as a mistake that prevents function... or a liability that is not obvious on the screen but obvious in the final article that a competitor can capitalize on.
This presentation discusses how the Dimonte Group has successfully used SolidWorks and the 3D CAD data it creates to reduce the need for prototypes by checking function and manufacturability 'virtually'. We also discuss ways to leverage that 3D data to eliminate the need for creating prototypes for the marketing pipeline.

Benefit: Attendees can learn from real-world successes that show how they can use their 3D CAD databases, with SolidWorks and partner products, to deliver on their design goals while reducing or eliminating the need for costly and schedule-consuming rounhds of prototypes.
